Friday Night Pep-Talk: Recovery Network Connections

Happy Sober Friday!

If you are new to sobriety you may find Friday nights particularly difficult to get through, especially if all your friends go out to bars, or parties while you’re trying to stay sober. Fridays were terribly hard for me! They just seemed like the one day a week that my craving just kicked in full force! I needed to keep myself occupied, and stay focused on what I really wanted to get accomplish: stay sober for the few hours till midnight. After all it is just one night, except it repeats every week! UGH.

So, as I have been looking to get more connected and fill up my free time, I have discovered many websites dedicated to offering social communities for people in recovery! I found them to be a really great support tool, where I have been able to interact with people in recovery without needing to leave the comforts of my couch! I am currently a member of the Social Community and Soberistas, and I have just joined In The Rooms, it’s like the Facebook for recovery, very cool. Check them out, and have an awesome sober night!

  1. Hi Maggie, I’m pretty new to the sober blogging community and just wanted to say thank you for these links! I’m on In the Rooms although I don’t go on too often. The way I got turned on to it was through this yoga teacher, Tommy Rosen. He is a recovering addict and does lots around yoga, meditation and recovery. He leads an online meeting on Tuesday evening on In the Rooms. I really like his perspectives! Maybe I’ll see you there :))
